Ros Manier-Pettit
Workshop Leader & Maker Extraordinaire
I am a multidisciplinary textile artist whose work is shaped by a lifelong study of harmony, balance, and material sensitivity. Before founding Makers & Mediums, I spent over twenty years as an opera singer with the Washington National Opera, developing a deep understanding of rhythm, structure, and emotional expression—principles that now guide my visual design.
My approach to textiles reflects musical thinking: color as tone, texture as timbre, and pattern as rhythm. Simplicity is intentional, with meaning emerging through relationships between elements. With experience in Precious Metal Clay and fine jewelry, I bring a sculptural awareness and respect for materials to each piece, from functional quilts to bespoke quilted shoes.
Inspired by harmony in nature and shaped by global travel, I draw from landscapes, wildlife, and craft traditions worldwide. At Makers & Mediums, I share this ethos through hands-on workshops in 9-patch quilts, tablecloths, and pillowcases—inviting makers to slow down and create objects that are both useful and expressive.
